Keylayne Trading (or KTS as the Store was known) started on a coffee table in the corner of my office. As more and more products were gradually brought up to Zambia the coffee table was outgrown. KTS moved into a tiny office at the back of my husband’s truck repair Workshop.
After trading from the “Workshop Office” for over a year and not only growing our range of products on offer, but our customer base as well – we decided to take a huge leap of faith and secured a little shop at Ndola, Zambia’s very first shopping mall – Jacaranda Mall.
We set up a stunning little Shop at Jacaranda Mall, which proved to be very popular and with an even bigger variety of products arriving we outgrew our little Shop soon after. When the Shop next door to ours became vacant we decided to take that Shop as well. Building alterations were started and in no time at all both shops were joined and KTS had a bigger and better store with even more products, not readily available at other local Stores in Zambia.
Shopping Malls then became a popular feature and they were being built all over Ndola. Jacaranda Mall, being in an industrial area, became less popular with the new malls that were built in town and in the suburbs. We decided to move our store to a large shop at Rekays Mall, in Ndola town, in 2016.
There we continued introducing new and unusual products and we had customers coming to our store from all over Zambia.
The growing trend in Zambia is to operate your business from a residential house. We then decided to “move with the times” and secured a house in Northrise in Ndola. Building alterations were started, shop fitting was done, the garden landscaped and in September 2020 we moved the Shop to Kabelenga Road in Northrise Ndola and we rebranded the shop to Katies.
Since moving to Northrise we have expanded our product range even further and we have an awesome team in our Shop – the Katies Tribe – waiting to be of service to you.
We now look forward to being of service to you online.
We are eco-friendly
Since 2013 we have stopped using plastic bags for checkout and only use paper bags.
